ECONOMIC MODELS OF CULTURAL EVOLUTION: APPLICATIONS TO MARKETS, GOVERNMENTS AND COMMUNITIES
Various cultural dimensions associated to trust, solidarity, fairness, and other social norms become increasingly acknowledged in various important economic and social policy areas like globalization, crime, ethnic conflicts, gender, welfare state institutions and economic development.
The purpose of these lectures is to show how to integrate basic tools of microeconomic analysis and other fields such as sociobiology, evolutionary anthropology, and population dynamics to analyze these issues, emphasizing the role of endogenous preferences and culture and their implications for markets, communities and institutions.
