On adaptive nonparametric inference

Abstract: I shall review some recent developments in adaptive nonparametric inference, with a focus on the question on confidence statements for infinite-dimensional parameters. I shall describe the main statistical challenges and some answers that have been found recently, with a focus on the rich interplay between the functional analytic structure of the statistical problem at hand and concentration of measure phenomena relevant in the analysis of the estimators involved.
